Drept urmare le dau “turn off”!

If you asked me a few years ago what is so horrible about Monday, I would have given you more than 10 good reasons. But today, for me at least, it doesn’t matter the day of the week, as long as I wake up full of joy every morning because I am doing what I like, the sun is up, bla bla bla. But the real reason I climb out of bed is in fact the thought of that fresh chocolate croissant that I will enjoy next to a cup of black tea with lemon.

It all becomes even more appealing while I take a short social media tour, more specifically on Facebook. It’s pointless to go into details because the discussion about this platform goes back and forth, it’s a tool that some are using more and others less, including me. But amid all the events, it’s possible to stop realizing how much social media is influencing our opinions and decisions, and how much time it requires. I personally think about having a small tech detox, because “enough is enough” and because:

  •  Balance is the most important. 3 hours a day are enough for me to get acquainted with everything that happens online, including sharing some personal moments.
  •  Permanent notifications on my mobile screen are constantly distracting me and are creating a false feeling of urgency. Therefore I turn them off!
  •  I feel great when I unfriend / unfollow / unsubscribe from everything that annoys me virtually.
  •  First of all I try to be informed and only then I form an opinion regarding a topic, especially online, where all information is like “fast-food”.
  •  Don’t get me wrong, it’s ok to be active. Both online and offline.
  •  I don’t think it’s a secret that we are not always what we post. That is why, I will always prefer 10 minutes face to face with someone instead of 1 hour spent on chat.
  •  The general herd behavior. Everything is too similar.
  •  And because before the digital age we were happier! We didn’t know what our neighbor is up to, we weren’t depressed because the average Joe didn’t like what we posted and we were enjoying life’s true pleasures. Because Nutella tastes different when it’s eaten directly from the jar than on Instagram!

Next Monday I will let you know how my techno-digital detox went. It’s possible that this experiment will end with 2-3 extra kilograms. I will take this risk 🙂

Have a great week!
